New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu on Monday arrived in Moldova’s capital Chișinău as part of the first leg of her three-nation state visit. Upon her arrival at the international airport in Chișinău, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi accorded her a warm welcome. This marks the first-ever visit by an Indian President to Moldova.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared information about President Murmu’s arrival in Moldova through a post on the social media platform X.

The official X account of the President stated that Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Moldova, warmly welcomed President Murmu upon her arrival in Chișinău during the first leg of her state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania.

During her visit, President Murmu will hold delegation-level talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Monday. She will also meet Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, and interact with members of the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group. Her itinerary also includes addressing a business forum and meeting members of the Indian community residing in Moldova.

President Murmu is on a state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania from July 19 to July 25. During the second leg of her tour, she will visit North Macedonia on July 21, where she will hold bilateral discussions with President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. She will also meet Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, address the Parliament of North Macedonia and participate in the India-North Macedonia Business Forum.

In the final leg of her visit, President Murmu will travel to Romania on July 23. There, she will hold meetings with the President, the interim Prime Minister and the President of the Senate. She will also interact with members of the India-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group, address the India-Romania Business Forum and meet members of the Indian community.
