New Delhi, 19 July (H.S.):

Ladakh-based social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s health condition remains stable, but doctors are keeping him under continuous observation due to the impact of his prolonged hunger strike on his body. According to the fourth health bulletin issued by VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, all of Wangchuk’s vital parameters are currently stable, although some blood test results continue to show minor deviations from the normal range.

The bulletin released on Sunday stated that Wangchuk has been placed under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors considering the effects of prolonged fasting on his health. Along with doctors from VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, specialists from AIIMS, New Delhi, are also closely monitoring his condition.

Doctors said that despite his stable condition at present, continuous medical intervention and round-the-clock clinical monitoring are essential to address any possible complications arising from the prolonged fast. Therefore, he continues to remain admitted in the hospital, where all necessary treatment and care are being provided.

His clinical condition and blood parameters are being regularly assessed so that any changes in his health can be detected promptly and immediate medical assistance can be provided if required.
