Amman, 19 July (H.S.): Two American soldiers were killed and another remains missing after an Iranian missile and drone attack targeted a US military base in Jordan. Four other US service members were injured in the strike, the United States military confirmed on Saturday.

According to the US military, Iran launched a coordinated attack using ballistic missiles and drones against the military installation. At the time of the assault, US and allied forces were engaged in defensive and counter-response operations.

The military said the incident marks the first direct fatalities among American troops resulting from an Iranian attack since the outbreak of the conflict. The four injured soldiers were immediately taken to hospitals in Jordan, where they received treatment and were later discharged.

Search operations are continuing to locate the missing soldier.

US officials have not disclosed the identities of the deceased service members, citing security reasons.

Following the attack, security measures across the region have been significantly strengthened.
