New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.): A Pakistan Army armoured vehicle was targeted in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in the Prom area of Panjgur district in Balochistan province on Sunday. The powerful explosion caused significant damage to the bulletproof and blast-resistant vehicle, with several army personnel feared killed and some others injured.

According to a report by The Balochistan Post, initial information suggests that the military suffered casualties in the attack. However, the exact number of deaths and injuries has not been officially confirmed so far. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Local sources stated that the explosion was extremely powerful and caused heavy damage to the vehicle. They claimed that casualties were reported in the attack.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) spokesperson Major Ghoram Baloch, in a statement, claimed that on July 18, rebel fighters carried out an operation against an alleged Pakistan Army death squad operating in the Kulan area of Rakhshan district. He claimed that the fighters surrounded the house of Hafiz Kabir, described by the group as a key operative of the army’s network.

According to the spokesperson, Hafiz Kabir’s son Abdul Hakim attempted to resist during the operation and was killed in retaliatory action. He further claimed that Hafiz Kabir and his other son Hafiz Naveed were taken into custody and would be presented before the Baloch National Court.

The spokesperson also claimed that in another operation on the night of July 18 in the Gwash area of Rakhshan district, fighters shot dead Ghami Sassoli, described by the group as an anti-Balochistan figure and a close associate of government employee Sufi Mumtaz.

Meanwhile, on the morning of July 18, a landmine explosion in the Yaropat area of Sui tehsil in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan killed a young man. The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Ahmed Ali, son of Ali Khan Bugti.

Following the incident, the victim’s family staged a protest with the body at China Chowk in Sui and blocked the main highway connecting Sui and Kashmore. The family alleged that their son was killed by the death squad of Shahnawaz Chakrani Bugti.
