Jammu, 16 July (H.S.): Furthering its flagship 'Clean Jammu, Green Jammu' initiative, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today organized a mega plantation drive at Shanti Park, Ward No. 61 (Pata Paloura) under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). The drive was inaugurated by Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation.

Organized in collaboration with the Urban Forestry Division, Jammu, the plantation drive is part of a city-wide green campaign spearheaded by Dr. Devansh Yadav with the ambitious goal of planting over 50,000 saplings across Jammu.

The initiative aims to strengthen the city's green cover, improve air quality, enhance biodiversity, and foster a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable urban environment through active public participation.

During today's drive, approximately 2,100 saplings are being planted at Shanti Park, adding another significant green space to the city. The plantation forms part of JMC's sustained efforts to create environmentally resilient public spaces while addressing the challenges of urban pollution and climate change.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Devansh Yadav underscored the vital role of urban forestry in improving environmental health and enhancing the quality of life for citizens. He appealed to residents, educational institutions, social organizations, and youth groups to actively participate in the campaign and take collective responsibility for protecting and nurturing the planted saplings to ensure their long-term survival.

Among those present on the occasion were Joint Commissioner (Health & Sanitation), Abdul Sattar, Deputy Commissioner, North, JMC, Sanjay Badyal, Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu, Ashwani Sharma, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Dr. Rabia Khan, Dr. Priyanka Malhotra, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon and former Councillor Mohinder Kumar, Officials of the Jammu Municipal Corporation and the Urban Forestry Division, Jammu, along with senior citizens, volunteers, and local residents, also participated enthusiastically in the plantation drive, reaffirming their collective commitment to a greener and more sustainable Jammu.

The 'Clean Jammu, Green Jammu' campaign continues to gain momentum with strong community participation, reflecting JMC's unwavering commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable urban development, and creating a healthier future for the citizens of Jammu.
