Golaghat (Assam), 15 July (HS): A tragic incident was reported from Madhavpur in Numaligarh, where two children lost their lives after coming into contact with an electrified fence allegedly installed to keep wild elephants away.

According to reports on Wednesday, a local resident, Bhaiti Orang, had connected an electric wire around the boundary of his house to protect his property from elephant intrusions. His daughter, Dibika Orang and another child, Himanshu Kheria, were fatally electrocuted after accidentally touching the live wire.

The incident has sparked shock and grief in the locality. Police have launched an investigation into the matter and further legal action is being initiated.-----------
