Mumbai, 15 July

(HS): In another major respite to the farmers after loan waiver, Chief Minister

Devendra Fadnavis announced total waiving of pending electric bills of

Agricultural Pumps up to 7.5 HP. The pending bills are about 48,000 crore.

Fadnavis made

this announcement during his felicitation in Mumbai, following loan waiver for

farmers, on Wednesday. The farmers will be supplied power free of cost during

day time and difficult conditions in implementing loan waiver will be removed,

he added. The benefits will be extended to 100 per cent farmers.

The State

Government will extend financial help of 25,000 crore to power companies so

that the common consumers are not burdened.

About 30 legislators

led by Randir Savarkar, met Fadnavis with a request to extend benefits of loan

waiver to indebted farmers since 2019, which he accepted. About 12 lakh farmers

were benefited whose loans were pending since 2019. Those who have taken loan

above Rs 2 lakh will also get benefit of the loan waiver announced by the

government.

Fadnavis said

the use of modern technology and group farming is being promoted to prevent

farers from being indebted in the future.
