Howrah, July 14 (HS): In a bid to enhance the onboard travel experience through innovation and public-private partnership, the Howrah Division of Eastern Railway has launched Vande Express, a family-oriented phygital (physical and digital) magazine for passengers travelling on the Howrah–New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express.
Developed by ANOTHER INDIA, the magazine will be distributed free of cost to passengers without any financial burden on the Railways. The initiative has been implemented under a Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) model through private participation.
The magazine was formally launched by Dr Uday Shankar Jha, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Eastern Railway, Vishal Kapoor, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah Division, and other senior railway officials.
Designed to enrich the travel experience, the publication combines traditional print content with QR code-enabled digital features, providing passengers with information on travel, tourism, heritage, lifestyle, children's interactive activities and railway services.
It also highlights several passenger-centric initiatives of Indian Railways, including the RailOne App, Rail Madad, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Vande Bharat Sleeper project, and the cultural and tourism heritage of eastern India.
Railway officials said the project not only enhances passenger engagement but also serves as an effective platform for spreading awareness about important railway services and initiatives.
The launch of Vande Express marks another step by Indian Railways towards creating a more informed, engaging and digitally connected travel experience while reinforcing its commitment to innovation, technology and customer-centric passenger services.
