New Delhi, 12 July (H.S.): England booked their place in the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after Jude Bellingham scored a brilliant brace to inspire a 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway in a thrilling quarter-final at Miami Stadium in Florida.
The contest remained deadlocked after the regulation 90 minutes, with both teams level at 1-1. Bellingham then struck the decisive goal in extra time to send England into the last four of the tournament.
Norway took the lead in the 36th minute through Andreas Schjelderup, who gave his side a 1-0 advantage. England responded within minutes as Jude Bellingham found the equaliser to restore parity before halftime.
Both teams created several opportunities in the second half, but neither was able to find the breakthrough, forcing the match into extra time.
Just three minutes into the additional period, Bellingham scored his second goal of the match in the 93rd minute, putting England ahead 2-1. England successfully defended its lead for the remainder of the match to secure a hard-fought victory and advance to the semi-finals.
Following the match, England head coach Thomas Tuchel said the result was a significant achievement for his team.
We are delighted to have reached the last four of the tournament. It is a major achievement for us. However, we also made some mistakes. Our tempo was not at its best, and we lacked consistency during phases of the game. Today, fortune was on our side, Tuchel said.
