
Jorhat (Assam), 08 June (HS): The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, an organisation affiliated with Vidya Bharati, concluded successfully at Shankardev Vidya Niketan, Garmur, Jorhat on June 7. The meeting brought together educationists, administrators and functionaries to review the organisation’s activities and chart its future course, officials informed on Monday.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before Goddess Saraswati by Assam Women’s University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajanta Borthakur Rajkonwar, RSS Uttar Assam Prant Pracharak Nripen Barman, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra Organising Secretary Dr. Pawan Tiwari, Secretary Dr. Jagadindra Ray Choudhury, President Kulendra Kumar Bhagawati and General Secretary Jagannath Rajbongshi. Several senior office-bearers, including vice-presidents Dr. Alokananda Barua and Anima Sharma, as well as educationists from across the state, attended the event.
Presiding over the meeting, President Kulendra Kumar Bhagawati reviewed the organisation’s activities, while General Secretary Jagannath Rajbongshi outlined the objectives of the AGM and presented the resolutions and proceedings of the previous meeting. In her keynote address, Dr. Ajanta Borthakur Rajkonwar stressed the importance of integrated education, innovative teaching methods and the effective use of Atal Tinkering Labs to nurture student excellence. She also highlighted the success of “Maya,” an educational robot developed by Assam Women’s University for child education.
During the session, Dipankar Bora, Secretary of Assam Prakashan Bharati, presented the income and expenditure report for the previous financial year along with the proposed budget for the coming year. Delegates also discussed key Vidya Bharati initiatives, including archives, training programmes, Matri Bharati, Shishu Vatika and sports development activities.
The meeting featured a special felicitation ceremony honouring former Garmur Principal Barnali Barua and Narayanpur Principal Vinod Krishna Sharma for their long and dedicated service as Principals and Cluster Heads under the Shankardev Shishu Niketan network. They were recognised for their integrity, discipline, punctuality and commitment to educational excellence.
On the occasion, the annual edition of the quarterly e-magazine Mahabahu Sangbad was released. A commemorative document chronicling the academic journeys of students who secured top ranks in the HSLC Examination between 1996 and 2026 was also unveiled.
In his concluding remarks, Kulendra Kumar Bhagawati expressed gratitude to all participants and thanked the teachers, students and volunteers of Shankardev Vidya Niketan, Garmur, for their contributions to the successful organisation of the event.---------
