Lucknow, 08 June (HS): Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of

Uttar Pradesh, and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated Lucknow's new

Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). This is India's eighth RMC, having been

upgraded from a local meteorological center and increasing its authority to

include Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in order to better disaster management

and early weather alerts. The enhanced center will monitor and predict both

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Upgrades are primarily intended to offer earlier

and more exact alerts for extreme weather occurrences such as heatwaves,

lightning, dense fog, and heavy rain. RMC collaborates closely with the India

Meteorological Department to improve agricultural advisories, urban

predictions, and flood management plans.

“In the august presence of Honorable Union Minister of State

(Independent Charge), Dr. Jitendra Singh, I attended the ceremony marking the

establishment of the Regional Meteorological Center in Lucknow today. Lucknow

is now establishing itself as a regional center of the Meteorological

Department. This is an important step toward scientifically advancing the

concept of a developed India through a state like Uttar Pradesh.

Hearty congratulations to the people of the state, and heartfelt felicitations

to the Honorable Union Minister and his team,” remarked UP CM in a post on X.

“So far, the state has erected 450 automatic weather

stations and 2,000 automatic rain gauges at the block level. Whatever new

projects are conducted by the Meteorological Department at UP, and whatever

level of collaboration is required, the state government is ready to offer full

support,” he added.

Earlier, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State

(Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and Minister
