Batala, 05 June (H.S.): A dispute between two groups over

crossing vehicles at Simbal Chowk in Batala turned into a bloody clash. During

the argument, both sides opened fire, leaving one Nihang Singh dead and two

others injured.

According to information, a youth travelling in a

Fortuner vehicle first took out a pistol and fired two to three rounds. In

response, a Nihang present on the other side also opened fire, injuring one of

the youths travelling in the Fortuner.

After this, heavy firing was carried out by the other

side, in which the Nihang Singh was killed. He collapsed on the spot. The

situation became more tense as continuous firing was reported from one side

during the incident.

The deceased Nihang has been identified as Deepinder

Singh. The injured have been identified as Jagjit Singh and his brother

Kamalpreet Singh. According to information, around 15 rounds were fired at the

spot.

Batala SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said that preliminary

investigation has revealed that the dispute started over vehicle crossing,

after which both sides fired at each other using their weapons. He said police

have registered a case and are collecting evidence for further action.Police

are investigating the case.
