Nagpur, June 4 (HS): Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said that India's time has arrived and the responsibility of providing a new direction to the world rests on the country's shoulders. He stressed the need to accelerate efforts to prepare society for this role and urged people not to remain mere observers of the RSS but to understand the organisation from within.
Addressing the public valedictory function of the RSS Karyakarta Vikas Varg-II at Reshimbagh Ground in Nagpur, Bhagwat said that only the organised strength of Hindu society could contribute to the resurgence of the Indian nation. He added that RSS volunteers would continue to reach out to individuals committed to selfless service for society and the nation.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, Kumar Mangalam Birla, as the chief guest. Prior to the addresses, trainees presented various physical demonstrations.
Bhagwat said the world is currently grappling with conflict, self-interest and imbalanced development, and that humanity needs India's philosophy and values more than ever. He asserted that India possesses the potential to become a guiding force for the world but must intensify efforts to prepare society for that responsibility.
Only those who prepare in advance have the ability to shape circumstances in their favour, he said.
The RSS chief noted that India's unique strength lies in balancing individual freedom, social harmony and protection of nature. While many countries address these aspects separately, India offers a holistic approach. He emphasised that India must guide the world not by imitating others but by drawing upon its own civilisation, culture and values.
Referring to centuries of foreign rule, Bhagwat said those who governed India were not superior to Indian society and that certain weaknesses within society had led to periods of subjugation. He said the RSS developed its organisational methodology from these historical experiences to unite the diverse Hindu society.
Bhagwat further stated that while the world acknowledges the validity of India's inclusive outlook, influence ultimately rests with those who possess strength. Therefore, he said, India must become a powerful nation.
Highlighting the ideals of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) and global brotherhood, he said powerful nations often act unilaterally, whether by dominating other countries, launching military actions or disrupting global energy supplies. India, he added, should emerge as a strong nation that uses its strength to bring people together rather than impose its will.
He said the RSS seeks to develop volunteers who rise above self-interest and social divisions to work for the nation. Bhagwat expressed confidence that Swami Vivekananda's vision of India's resurgence could begin to take visible shape within the next two to three years.
Speaking on the occasion, industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla praised the role of the RSS in India's development, saying the organisation has helped provide direction to society. He remarked that the present era belongs to India and presents immense opportunities for growth.
Birla urged young people to make full use of the country's Amrit Kaal to take India to new heights. He said he had several opportunities to interact with Mohan Bhagwat and had been impressed by his vision, adding that he attended the event after being encouraged to understand the RSS from within.
Referring to global uncertainties, Birla said India must strengthen its national capabilities and resilience to achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation. He cited challenges such as crude oil price volatility, disruptions in global supply chains and the rise of artificial intelligence, stressing the need for preparedness.
Birla also drew parallels between the social service activities of the Aditya Birla Group and the RSS, highlighting the group's contributions in education, healthcare and community development.
