NEW DELHI, June 4 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Daman on June 5, during which he will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate to the nation development projects worth more than Rs 21,700 crore.

In Gujarat’s Surat, the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth approximately Rs 18,800 crore, while in Daman he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 2,970 crore. In addition, he will also lay the foundation stone for port-related projects worth Rs 885 crore for Lakshadweep.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister will arrive at Hazira in Surat district at around 2:30 pm, where he will review ongoing industrial activities and infrastructure projects. He will thereafter inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple projects in the road, energy, and industrial sectors worth over Rs 18,800 crore, and address a public gathering.

In Surat, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the Package-6 and Package-7 of the Vadodara–Mumbai eight-lane access-controlled expressway. He will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of a crucial section of National Highway-56, which is expected to strengthen connectivity in tribal regions and improve access to the Statue of Unity.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate a 200-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital in Surat. The hospital will offer specialised medical services, a central laboratory, and 24-hour emergency and trauma care facilities. He will also inaugurate Gujarat’s transmission network expansion project under the interstate power transmission system, along with upgrades to the electricity distribution system in Valsad, infrastructure for waste disposal and treatment in the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR), the Sarigam Industrial Development Corporation, and utility projects for the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.

Later, the Prime Minister will travel to Daman, where he will inaugurate a new terminal building at the airport around 6:15 pm and dedicate the Namo Hospital to the nation. He will also inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth around Rs 2,970 crore.

In Daman, projects worth approximately Rs 1,340 crore will be dedicated to the nation, including the new terminal building of the Namo Airport and the Namo Hospital. The new terminal is expected to strengthen regional air connectivity, while the hospital will be capable of serving around 1,500 outpatients daily.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 1,630 crore, including an iconic bridge, the Daman Convention Centre, and a campus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). These initiatives are expected to boost tourism, investment, employment, and infrastructure development in the region.

Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for four key port projects worth Rs 885 crore for Lakshadweep. These include the development of port facilities on the eastern and western coasts of Kavaratti and Kadmat islands. The multipurpose jetties will enable year-round operations of cruise and passenger vessels up to 300 metres in length. The projects will also develop facilities for passenger and cargo handling, fish processing, fuel distribution, ice supply, and boat repair services.
