NEW DELHI, June 4 (H.S.): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday met Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez in New Delhi.

In a post on social media platform X, Dr. Jaishankar said, “Pleased to meet Acting President Delcy Rodríguez of Venezuela in Delhi today. I deeply appreciate her longstanding commitment to India-Venezuela relations. Her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will further strengthen our cooperation.”

During her visit, Acting President Rodríguez is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions are expected to cover all aspects of India-Venezuela relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation in key areas such as energy security, trade and investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transport, and renewable energy.

She is on an official visit to India from June 3 to June 7. During her visit, she is expected to hold wide-ranging discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in energy, trade, investment, manufacturing, health, and transport sectors.

The Acting President is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers for foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communications and information, and transport. Rodríguez has visited India multiple times in her previous roles as Foreign Minister and Vice President, and this marks her sixth visit to the country.
