Satya Sharma, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, on Wednesday visited the site of the devastating hotel fire in Malviya Nagar along with Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar.
Satya Sharma said that directions have already been issued to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. She stated that all aspects of the tragedy would be examined in detail. Information relating to the building’s age, ownership, licensing status, and compliance with fire safety regulations is being collected. She added that strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible during the inquiry. A comprehensive inspection of other hotels operating in the area will also be carried out to identify irregularities and ensure timely corrective action.
The Standing Committee Chairperson instructed officials to strictly implement all necessary safety measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future. She emphasized that the safety of citizens remains the administration’s foremost priority and that negligence of any kind will not be tolerated.
Satya Sharma further said that the MCD would coordinate with all concerned agencies to ensure full compliance with fire safety standards across Delhi and to effectively prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Deputy Commissioner of the South Zone Rakesh Kumar and other senior officials were also present during the visit.
