Pune, 03 June (HS): Pune Police have seized Mephedrone

(MD) worth Rs 3,700 crore in Dilli, Kurkumbh and Sangli areas. Upon

interrogation of the accused heavy stock of the raw material was also detected

by the police.

The accused informed about the 340 kg raw material concealed

in a Tempo in Vishrantwadi, which was seized on Saturday. The raw material was

used in preparing narcotics like MD and deadly chemical Meth (Methanol) were

seized.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar informed the

media that the drugs were being manufactured in the Kurkumbh MIDC area on the

Pune-Solapur road. Police raided the MD factory in the areas and seized the

narcotic drugs and raw material. The material seized has been send for

laboratory testing.

Amitesh Kumar stated that nine people have been

arrested so far. The kingpin of the racket Sandip Dhunia has fled India. The

Police is investigating into the international drug smuggling racket.
