Agartala, 29 June (HS): Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by Tripura Police and airport security personnel during two separate operations at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala based on specific intelligence inputs.

According to police sources, four Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended in each operation. Preliminary investigation revealed that they had allegedly entered India illegally through the Tripura border and were planning to travel to Guwahati.

Police also seized several mobile phones from their possessions. The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to three days of police custody for further interrogation, official sources informed on Monday.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the network of agents who allegedly facilitated their illegal entry into India and are continuing efforts to identify others involved in the racket.---------
