(HS): The Pune District and Sessions Judge S R Salunkhe on Monday awarded the
capital punishment to Bhimrao Kamle (65) from Narsapur village in Bhor Tehsil
of Pune district, who was involved in raping a three-and-a-half year girl child
and killing her. The court awarded ‘Hanging till death’ for the rarest of rate
crime. Kamble had raped again the victim after killing her.
The case was
decided in a record time 60 days from the day of crime. The chargesheet was
presented in 16 days, 55 witness were examined and Kamble was proved guilty on
June 25. The court had reserved the verdict for June 29.
In his verdict the
judge remarked that the capital punishment appears less looking at the nature
of the crime committed by Kamble. Eighteen injury marks on the victim’s body
were recorded. Her pant was inserted 21 cm in her throat during the rape.
Kamble had
earlier raped a girl from his family and an old lady. He expressed no remorse
to the crime he had committed. Special Government
Pleader Ajay Misar quoted Supreme Court verdict in 12 cases to assert capital
punishment for Kamble.
The judge
appreciated the investigating team, team of doctors, cybercrime unit and
forensic sciences department for fast and accurate completion of the entire
process.
The incident
occurred on May 1 and the victims was sexually abused for about 39 minutes. Various
sections of the society had demanded capital punishment to Bhimrao Kamble. Demonstrations
were also staged in support of the demand and early decision by the court.
