Three Sindh Rangers Personnel Killed in Attack on Security Installation in Karachi

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI, 28 June (H.S.): Three personnel of Pakistan's Sindh Rangers were killed after militants attacked a security installation in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Saturday, prompting authorities to launch a large-scale security operation across the locality.

According to local media reports, a powerful explosion was followed by intense gunfire near Meteorological Chowk on University Road, triggering panic among residents. Police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the attack.

Senior Sindh Police officials said preliminary investigations indicate that the attackers attempted to target the main gate of the Rangers headquarters using a vehicle. Security forces retaliated immediately, and initial reports suggested that three suspected attackers were also killed during the exchange of fire.

Following the attack, security personnel sealed off the area and launched an extensive search operation involving counter-terrorism units, Special Security Unit commandos and Sindh Rangers. Investigators are examining the nature of the attack and working to identify those responsible.

Emergency service Rescue 1122 said it received reports of an explosion near Block-5 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, after which rescue teams were dispatched to the site without delay.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took note of the incident and sought a detailed report from the authorities. He directed police and security officials to conduct a thorough investigation and establish the facts at the earliest.

Sindh's Home Minister also expressed concern over the attack and instructed officials to submit a comprehensive report.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Security agencies are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the assault and identify those involved.
