MOSCOW, June 27 (HS/RIA Novosti) - More and more countries understand that unilateral Western sanctions imposed against Russia are unacceptable, Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador-at-Large Alexander Trofimov told RIA Novosti.

This [Western sanctions] is an unacceptable issue, we need to talk about it and we are doing it. More and more people understand this, and it is increasingly being discussed in public and political discussions in different countries, and this contributes to the creation of alternative mechanisms for cooperation, Trofimov said.

Russia declares the unacceptability of unilateral sanctions at such organizations as BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the UN, the ambassador added.

Together with our like-minded partners, we are instilling an understanding that unilateral measures have no place in international relations between responsible states, he said.

Russia has repeatedly said that it would cope with the sanctions pressure the West has been exerting on it. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term Western strategy, and that the sanctions had dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy.
