Washington, 27 June (H.S.):

US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran could face consequences after accusing Tehran of violating the ceasefire agreement by launching drones at commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said the United States would determine an appropriate response to what he described as an unacceptable breach of the ceasefire.

You will find out. I don't like the fact that they took a shot yesterday, actually four. We knocked down three. A very expensive ship took a little beating. They shouldn't be doing that, Trump said, referring to the reported drone attack.

His remarks came after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces had carried out strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, as well as coastal radar sites, on June 26. According to CENTCOM, the operation was launched in response to an attack a day earlier on the Singapore-flagged cargo vessel M/V Ever Lovely while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast.

The US military said the vessel was struck by a one-way attack drone, describing the incident as an unwarranted act of aggression against commercial shipping and a violation of the recently agreed ceasefire. CENTCOM added that such actions threaten freedom of navigation through one of the world's most strategically important maritime corridors.

The command said US forces remain deployed in the region to coordinate safe passage for commercial vessels and to ensure continued compliance with the ceasefire agreement. It stressed that American forces would continue to monitor developments closely and remain prepared to respond to any further threats to international shipping.

Meanwhile, tensions in the region continued to rise after Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi, a member of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, issued a warning to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries through a post on social media. He argued that reliance on US military bases had increased regional insecurity and described Iran's missile and drone capabilities, along with its control over the Strait of Hormuz, as non-negotiable national security interests.
