Chennai, 26 June (H.S.):The much-anticipated induction of former AIADMK minister and ex-Viralimalai MLA C. Vijayabaskar into the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has been postponed to July 2 after Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay scheduled a two-day conference of District Collectors and Superintendents of Police in Chennai.

Vijayabaskar was originally set to join the ruling party on June 29 at a public event to be held at the RK Convention Centre in Neelankarai, where Chief Minister Vijay was expected to formally welcome him into the party. However, party sources said the programme has been rescheduled as the Chief Minister will be presiding over the annual administrative conference on June 29 and 30.

According to sources, the venue and the overall format of the induction ceremony will remain unchanged, with only the date being shifted. Chief Minister Vijay is expected to personally induct Vijayabaskar into the party on July 2.

The event is expected to mark one of the most significant political inductions for the ruling party since it assumed office. Thousands of Vijayabaskar's supporters are likely to join TVK along with him, providing a major boost to the party's organisational strength in central Tamil Nadu.

Party insiders also indicated that several other prominent political figures are expected to join TVK during the event. These include former legislators, ex-Members of Parliament and a number of former local body representatives, signalling the party's continued efforts to expand its political base across the State.

Vijayabaskar recently resigned as the MLA representing the Viralimalai Assembly constituency, paving the way for his move to the ruling party. His induction is being closely watched in Tamil Nadu's political circles as TVK continues to attract leaders from rival political formations ahead of future electoral contests.
