Bhubaneswar, 26 June (H.S.): The three-member committee constituted by the Odisha government to investigate errors in school textbooks has submitted its report to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The panel, headed by the Development Commissioner, submitted its findings within the seven-day deadline set by the Chief Minister.

The committee was formed after multiple errors were detected in school textbooks prescribed for the current academic session, drawing sharp criticism from teachers, parents, educationists and the Opposition.

The Chief Minister had directed the committee to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the lapses, identify the officials and institutions responsible, and examine how the errors occurred during the drafting, review and publication of the textbooks.

According to official sources, the report has now been placed before the Chief Minister for examination. The state government is expected to review its findings before deciding on the next course of action.

Soon after the controversy came to light, Chief Minister Majhi had assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the lapses. With the inquiry report now submitted, disciplinary action against the officials and agencies held accountable is likely after the government completes its review.
