Guwahati, 25 June (HS): The Special Court on Thursday deferred the hearing on the bail petitions filed by Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya, former bodyguards of late singer Zubeen Garg, in a disproportionate assets case. The court fixed July 23 as the next date for hearing after their counsels sought additional time.
The case was registered by the CM Vigilance following the death of Zubeen Garg, with allegations relating to assets disproportionate to known sources of income against the two former bodyguards. Both Bora and Baishya have engaged separate legal counsels to represent them in the matter.
As the hearing was deferred, the court did not grant any immediate relief to either of the accused. Their bail applications will now be taken up again on July 23.
Meanwhile, then manager of Zubeen Garg and businessman Siddhartha Sharma also failed to secure relief from the court on Thursday. The next hearing in his case has been scheduled for July 24.
The court has also fixed July 24 for hearing matters related to the operation of seized bank accounts. Siddhartha Sharma’s counsel had moved the court seeking permission to unfreeze the accounts, including that of Mahabir Aqua. The matter will be considered during the next hearing.-----------
