Guwahati, 25 June (HS): In a significant humanitarian initiative during the annual Ambubachi Mela, the Northeast Frontier Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (NFRWWO) organised a food distribution programme at Kamakhya Railway Station to assist thousands of devotees visiting the revered Kamakhya Temple.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of NFRWWO President Shalini Shrivastava with the objective of providing comfort and support to pilgrims arriving from various parts of the country. The initiative reflected the organization’s commitment to passenger welfare and its efforts to serve devotees during one of the region’s largest religious congregations.
As part of the extensive passenger assistance arrangements, volunteers of the NF Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides have been deployed at major railway stations across the Northeast Frontier Railway zone. The volunteers are helping passengers with crowd management, guidance and information services, contributing to a safer and more convenient travel experience for pilgrims.
In another supportive measure, the Commercial Department of Northeast Frontier Railway organised a food distribution programme at Guwahati Railway Station for devotees travelling to Kamakhya Temple. The initiative was aimed at providing refreshments and assistance to pilgrims during their journey.
To manage the heavy influx of devotees, NF Railway has introduced several special unreserved train services connecting Kamakhya with key destinations across Assam and North Bengal. Additionally, the carrying capacity of several regular passenger trains has been temporarily enhanced to accommodate the increased rush during the Ambubachi Mela.
Northeast Frontier Railway stated that it remains committed to ensuring safe, convenient and passenger-friendly services through coordinated efforts involving various departments, welfare organisations and volunteers throughout the Ambubachi Mela period.-----------
