Mumbai, 25 June (HS): “Glad to attend the Handing Over and
Taking Over of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, from MIHAN
India Limited to GMR Aero, along with Hon Union Minister Nitin Gadkari ji and
Hon Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu ji. When new airports were being
developed around the country, we decided that Nagpur airport also needed to be
refurbished and expanded. Despite legacy issues, it is now embarking on a new
chapter. Grateful to Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji for the cabinet decision approving
the handover. This partnership brings in world-class expertise to unlock the
airport's true potential,” said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
‘The integral part of this airport is that it is a passenger
and cargo hub with two runways. The second runway has been a major driver of
investment in this area, attracting major defence aviation manufacturing
investment to Nagpur. Supporting infrastructure and connectivity to the airport
are also being developed rapidly to ensure seamless access for all. Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, is not just an airport; it is
an economic growth engine of Nagpur, Vidarbha, and Central India. The ecosystem
created here will drive further progress and prosperity in the region,” he
added.
MP Mayatai Ivnate, MP Praful Patel, MLC Parinay Fuke, MLA
Sameer Meghe, Nagpur Mayor Neetatai Thakre, Deputy Mayor Leelatai Hathibed,
