Dhemaji, 22 June (HS): Two employees of the State Bank of India (SBI) lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Hahchara in Assam’s Dhemaji district late on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Hirakjyoti Mili, a cashier of SBI Dhemaji Branch, and Ratul Konwar, an accounts staff member. According to reports, the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident after the driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into a water body.

Both occupants sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on the spot. The incident has sent shockwaves across the district, with colleagues, friends and local residents expressing grief over the untimely demise of the two bank employees.

Police have initiated an investigation into the accident, while further details are awaited.---------------
