New Delhi, 22 June (H.S.):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the fire incident in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the tragedy.

In a message posted on social media platform X on Monday, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said the Prime Minister was deeply distressed by the loss of lives in the Lucknow fire incident. The statement added that relief and rescue operations are currently underway and that the local administration is extending every possible assistance to those affected.

The Prime Minister announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased victim. In addition, every person injured in the incident will receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000.
