New Delhi, 22 June (H.S.): The new Aadhaar app launched by the Central Government has received an overwhelming response from users across the country. In less than five months since its launch, the app has crossed 31 million (3.1 crore) downloads, reflecting its growing popularity and increasing public trust in its utility.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the app has been designed to enhance the Ease of Living by providing a range of essential digital services directly through users' smartphones. So far, nearly four million users have updated their mobile numbers using the new Aadhaar app, while around 850,000 users have updated their addresses through the platform.

The app offers Aadhaar holders a convenient and privacy-first mechanism to display, share, and securely verify their identity. It incorporates several advanced features designed with security and public convenience in mind. These include biometric lock and unlock, face authentication, authentication history, QR code-based contact cards, and online appointment booking.

According to the ministry, the app has proved highly useful in several everyday services. It enables seamless hotel check-ins through QR code scanning by Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs). It is also being used for hospital admissions, visitor management, event entry, and identity verification of gig workers and service partners, among several other applications. The official Aadhaar app is available for free download on both Android and Apple platforms.
