Guwahati, 22 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the international community has begun recognizing the state's positive transformation, with the European Union withdrawing its travel advisory on Assam after similar decisions by Japan and Australia.
The Chief Minister described the move as more than a diplomatic decision, stating that it reflects growing global confidence in Assam’s peace, development and stable environment. He noted that the state’s sustained efforts toward transformation have helped improve its image on the international stage.
Sarma expressed optimism that the lifting of the advisory would open new opportunities for international tourism, local businesses, homestays, cultural exchanges and foreign investment. He said Assam is now emerging as an attractive destination for global engagement and economic partnerships.
Recalling a time when several countries advised their citizens against visiting Assam, the Chief Minister said the changing stance of international partners demonstrates recognition of the state's progress and the wide range of opportunities it now offers.---------------
