Guwahati, 22 June (HS): BJP Assam Pradesh spokesperson Dr. Zafreen Mehjabin on Monday said Assam is witnessing unprecedented economic growth under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, positioning the state as the economic powerhouse of Northeast India.

She said the state’s transformation has been driven by policy reforms, infrastructure development, investment promotion and global engagement. According to her, investment outreach programmes in countries such as Japan and Singapore ahead of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit helped attract global investors and strengthen confidence in Assam’s business environment.

Dr. Mehjabin highlighted that travel advisories imposed by Australia, Japan and several European Union countries have been relaxed for most parts of Assam, reflecting improved security, governance and economic prospects. She added that sectors including power, infrastructure, hydrocarbons, manufacturing and information technology have attracted major investment commitments, while projects worth nearly ₹2 lakh crore have already entered different stages of implementation.

She further noted that MSME growth, industrial expansion and landmark projects such as the Tata Semiconductor OSAT facility at Jagiroad are generating large-scale employment and reinforcing Assam’s position as a preferred destination for investment and industrial development.---------------
