Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Saturday said that yoga strengthens the body, calms the mind and brings balance to life, making it essential for individual well-being as well as the nation's progress. He made these remarks while participating in the International Day of Yoga programme held at the District Park in Sector 14, Rohini.

The Speaker joined hundreds of yoga practitioners, local residents, youth, senior citizens, children and representatives of various social organisations in performing yoga asanas and pranayama. The programme aimed to promote the message of good health, mental resilience, holistic well-being and a balanced lifestyle through the practice of yoga. Participants enthusiastically took part in the event and reaffirmed their commitment to adopting a healthy way of life.

Addressing the gathering, Vijender Gupta highlighted the growing global acceptance of yoga and described it as an effective means of achieving physical fitness, mental peace and emotional balance. He said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has evolved into a global mass movement, earning unprecedented international recognition. Through the observance of the International Day of Yoga, India's ancient tradition of knowledge has reached the global stage, he added.

Vijender Gupta urged citizens, particularly the youth, to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives. He expressed confidence that the widespread adoption of yoga would contribute to building a healthier, happier and more productive society while accelerating the nation's journey towards becoming a developed, empowered and self-reliant India.

The programme concluded with participants taking a collective pledge to practise yoga regularly and to spread awareness about its benefits across society.
