Jammu, 18 June (H.S.): The PoJK Visthapit Sewa Samiti today strongly condemned the killings of innocent civilians by Pakistani Army in Gilgit- Baltistan.

Addressing a press conference here today, Dr Deepak Kapoor, president of the Samiti, flanked by other members, expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He strongly condemned the atrocities by the Pakistani government and the Army on the civilians in PoJK, who are struggling for their democratic rights.

Dr Kapoor said that Pakistani Government has failed to provide essential commodities to the people in the Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The people are on the roads for their rights. He pointed out that Pakistan Army has been committing atrocities on the people of PoJK since 1947-48. Mirpur, Kotli, Muzaffrabad, Poonch, Plandari were the prime targets of the Pakistani army.

Since then these areas remained under developed and the Pakistani Government hardly spends adequate funds for the development of these areas. The people are agitating since long but they are being suppressed by using force. Many of them have been killed recently by opening unprovoked firing , some were crushed under the vehicles.

There are no jobs for the people of PoJK, the power generated from Mangla Dam in Mirpur is dispatched to Pakistan. The public is protesting on the roads against the rising prices of every commodity and failure of the Pakistani authorities to provide food and fuel to the public.

Dr Kapoor said that the Pakistan Army and Government has crossed all the limits of the violation of Human Rights. He appealed the International Human Watch and HR bodies to take cognizance of these violations.

Samiti members urged the Govt of India to take decisive action and merge PoJK with India as these people want to re-unite with India.
