Bhubaneswar, 18 June (H.S.): In response to a heatwave warning issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre for the next three days, the Khordha district administration has announced revised school timings for all educational institutions in the district, including private schools.

According to an official order issued on Thursday, classes will be conducted in the morning from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM to protect students from extreme daytime temperatures. The revised schedule will remain in effect from June 19 to June 25.

The district administration has also directed school authorities to ensure the availability of adequate drinking water and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) for students as a precautionary measure against heat-related illnesses.

Officials stated that the decision was taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions and the forecast of intense heat across several parts of the district over the coming days.

Meanwhile, in neighbouring Puri district, the administration has extended the summer vacation for students from Shishu Vatika to Class XII until June 22 due to the continuing hot and humid weather conditions.
