Guwahati, 18 June (HS): Members of the newly constituted Karbi Welfare Autonomous Council were sworn in at a formal oath-taking ceremony held on Thursday at Banikanta Kakoti Auditorium, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Assam Education and Tribal Affairs (P) Minister Ranoj Pegu. The oath of office was administered by Assam Government Tribal Affairs Department Secretary Sushama Hazarika.

The programme was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department L. Sweety Changsan, Commissioner and Secretary Binita Pegu and Director of Tribal Affairs (P) Udayaditya Gogoi.

The event marked the formal commencement of the new council’s tenure, with dignitaries expressing confidence that the Karbi Welfare Autonomous Council will work towards the welfare, development, and empowerment of the Karbi community across the state.----------
