Mumbai, 17 June (H.S.): Advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a fitter India, the Fit India Cyclothon – Cycling by the Sea was organised at the Worli Coastal Cycle Track in Mumbai on Wednesday. The event was led by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

The cyclothon witnessed enthusiastic participation from fitness enthusiasts, cyclists, young people, and a large number of citizens, all reaffirming their commitment to adopting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Dr. Mandaviya flagged off the cyclothon and joined participants during the ride. He said that the Central Government remains committed to transforming fitness into a nationwide people's movement and promoting an active lifestyle to realise the vision of a developed India.

The event was also attended by actor Jackie Shroff, actor Taha Shah Badussha, actress Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni, and Olympian wrestler and Deputy Commissioner of Police Narsingh Yadav, who encouraged citizens to embrace fitness as an integral part of their lives.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mandaviya said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently described fitness as a cornerstone of a developed India. He noted that the Fit India Movement continues to inspire citizens across the country to adopt healthier lifestyles and make fitness a regular part of their daily routine.

The Union Minister also highlighted the broader significance of cycling, stating that in view of the challenges to fuel supplies arising from the situation in West Asia, it is important to promote cycling as a sustainable and energy-efficient mode of transport. He said cycling not only benefits individual health but also plays a vital role in environmental conservation and energy savings.

Dr. Mandaviya said that over the past two years, millions of citizens from across the country have enthusiastically participated in the Fit India campaign, significantly strengthening the culture of fitness nationwide.

He said, A fit citizen builds a healthy society, and a healthy society forms the foundation of a prosperous nation. Fitness is a vital instrument in the journey towards building a developed India.

The Fit India Cyclothon is part of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' nationwide campaign to encourage citizens to adopt active lifestyles and engage in regular physical activity. Through the Fit India Movement, the government aims to accelerate the country's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
