Jammu, 15 June (H.S.): Residents of the Thanda Pani-Bravi area in Sundarbani Tehsil of Rajouri district have expressed serious concern over the deplorable condition of the Thanda Pani-Bravi road, which has remained damaged and unattended for more than a year.

According to locals of the area, the road has been washed away at three different locations due to erosion and adverse weather conditions. At these spots, only about four to five feet of road surface remains, making travel extremely risky for commuters.

A deep gorge lies adjacent to the damaged portions, posing a constant threat to motorists and passengers, besides other road users. Locals stated that vehicles including cars, auto-rickshaws, motorcycles, and other light transport vehicles are exposed to daily accident risks while passing through these narrow and unsafe stretches. The situation has become even more critical as the movement of heavy vehicles and trucks has virtually come to a halt due to safety concerns.

Residents alleged that despite repeated requests and representations, the concerned authorities of the concerned department have failed to undertake any substantial repair work. They expressed disappointment over the prolonged neglect of a road that serves as an important lifeline for several villages in the region.

The people of the area have appealed to the district administration and the concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the matter and initiate urgent restoration and protection works. They warned that any further delay could result in a major accident, leading to loss of life and property.

Residents have urged the district administration to treat the issue as a matter of public safety and ensure that the damaged road is repaired at the earliest to restore safe and smooth connectivity for the local population.
