
Guwahati, 15 June (HS): Assam Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education & Research Minister Ashok Singhal on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Assam Secretariat to assess the progress of institutions, ongoing projects and future plans under the Medical Education and Research Department.
The meeting reviewed academic and research activities of the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, infrastructure development in medical colleges, recruitment of faculty and staff and measures to improve medical education standards. Discussions were also held on the implementation of the Atal Amrit Abhiyan health insurance scheme, hospital infrastructure projects, expansion of cancer care services, healthcare innovation initiatives and the functioning of AYUSH institutions.
Singhal directed officials to ensure timely completion of projects, improve healthcare delivery, strengthen inter-departmental coordination, and enhance the quality of medical education and public health services across the state. Senior departmental officials and heads of various institutions attended the meeting.------------
