Chief Minister, Sikh ministers and AAP Sikh MLAs
summoned to Akal Takht on June 29
Chandigarh, 15 June (H.S.): Akal Takht
Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj has declared Punjab Chief Minister
Bhagwant Mann as “anti-Panthic” and “anti-Guru” and has summoned him to appear
before Akal Takht Sahib on June 29 along with Sikh ministers of his cabinet.
The Akal Takht has also decided to seek clarification from non-Sikh ministers
of the Punjab cabinet.
The decision was announced on Monday evening after a
meeting of the five Singh Sahibans at Akal Takht Sahib. The meeting was held
after forensic reports related to the Chief Minister’s alleged controversial video
were received. The Jathedar announced the decision from the Akal Takht
Secretariat.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said the controversial viral
video had been sent to two reputed forensic laboratories in India for
examination. According to him, the reports confirmed the authenticity of the
video. He said that after the forensic findings, representatives of the Sikh
community had demanded action, following which the five Singh Sahibans
discussed the matter and decided to declare Bhagwant Mann anti-Guru and anti-Khalsa
Panth.
The Jathedar also appealed to the Khalsa Panth and Guru
followers not to associate with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Along with this,
Akal Takht has summoned all Sikh MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party who supported the
state government’s sacrilege-related legislation, which Akal Takht Sahib had
already rejected.
According to the Jathedar, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
had earlier been summoned to Akal Takht Sahib on January 15, 2026, where he had
presented his clarification. After that, Akal Takht decided to get the viral
video examined by forensic laboratories. The reports were read out during
Monday’s proceedings.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj further said that the Punjab
Government had brought the Satkar Act without consulting any Panthic institution.
He said a Panthic meeting was held on April 6, 2026, after which the community
had clearly stated that the law would not be accepted. Despite this, the
government passed the law.
He said the Act was against the Panth and could weaken
Panthic institutions by allowing interference in religious matters. The
Jathedar added that Sikh rules and traditions are determined by Akal Takht
Sahib, not by the state government.
He further stated that Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh
Sandhwan had earlier been given 15 days to respond on the issue, but no reply
was received from his side. Therefore, another Panthic meeting was held and
further action was decided.
The Akal Takht has now directed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sikh ministers
and concerned Sikh MLAs to appear before it on June 29. Further decisions in
the matter will be taken after their appearance and explanation.
