Guwahati, 14 June (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Assam on July 1. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced during a Facebook Live session on Sunday saying that a number of influential foreign representatives are also expected to accompany the Prime Minister during the visit to Guwahati.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Assam government is committed to establishing medical and engineering colleges in every district of the state to strengthen higher education and healthcare infrastructure.
Referring to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Sarma said the war-like situation has triggered a global fuel crisis, affecting India and Assam as well. He expressed hope that petrol and diesel prices would decline once the international situation stabilises.
Sarma also announced that beneficiaries will start receiving the benefits of all state government welfare schemes, including the Arunoday scheme, once again from August this year. He described the move as a major relief for eligible citizens across the state.-----------
