
Bhubaneswar, 14 June (H.S.): Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi have extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Raja, the popular agrarian festival that celebrates nature, fertility, and womanhood.
In his message, Governor Kambhampati described Raja as a festival that reflects the essence of Odisha’s culture, traditions, progress, and harmony with nature. He said the festival carries a strong message of environmental conservation and symbolizes reverence for Mother Earth.
“Raja showcases the greatness of nature and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood, friendship, and goodwill in society,” the Governor said while conveying his best wishes to the people of Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in a post on social media platform X, also greeted the people on the occasion and described Raja as a grand celebration of Odisha’s living cultural heritage. He said the festival represents a unique confluence of soil, nature, and the creative power of motherhood.
“Raja is not merely a celebration marking the onset of a new season; it is a profound cultural expression of our eternal consciousness, gratitude towards nature, and deep respect for womanhood,” the Chief Minister stated.
Majhi further noted that the festival has elevated the self-esteem of the Odia community by placing the sanctity of womanhood, the power of creation, and the dignity of motherhood at the center of social values.
Celebrated over three days, Raja marks the arrival of the monsoon season and honours the fertility of the earth and women, reflecting Odisha’s enduring traditions and cultural ethos.
