He also acknowledged Rana’s significant contribution to Indian shooting as a coach, highlighting the impact he had on nurturing and guiding young talent.

Rana passed away on Thursday night at a hospital in New Delhi at the age of 49. He had reportedly been undergoing treatment for a cardiac condition after experiencing health complications earlier this week.

Remembering his legacy,PM Modi said Rana would always be admired for his dedication to excellence and his commitment to strengthening Indian sport. The Prime Minister extended his condolences to Rana’s family, friends and admirers during this difficult time.

Widely regarded as one of India's finest shooters, Rana enjoyed a distinguished competitive career spanning more than a decade. He won multiple medals at international events and emerged as one of the country's most successful pistol shooters.

Among his most notable achievements was his performance at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, where he captured three gold medals and equalled the world record in the 25-metre Centre Fire Pistol event.
