
Mumbai, 12 June (HS): Possessing the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) while
availing sevices by MSRTC is mandatory from August 1. 2026. Transport Minister
Pratap Sarnaik has announced the rule for transparency, promoting digital
transaction and facilitating services available.
About 51 lakh senior citizens have registered
for the NCMC of which about 25 lakh has been made operational. The rest will be
made operational soon. Sarnaik directed the authorities concerned to expedite
the procedure for making the pending cards operational.
More than 4,000 NCMC card distribution
centres are working in the state and can be procured easily. Sarnaik, however,
warned that any malpractice in the card issuance or use will not be tolerated.
The centres issuing cards by charging more than prescribed fees will face stern
action, including withdrawal of permission of the centres, he added.
