Mumbai, 12 June (HS): Possessing the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) while

availing sevices by MSRTC is mandatory from August 1. 2026. Transport Minister

Pratap Sarnaik has announced the rule for transparency, promoting digital

transaction and facilitating services available.

About 51 lakh senior citizens have registered

for the NCMC of which about 25 lakh has been made operational. The rest will be

made operational soon. Sarnaik directed the authorities concerned to expedite

the procedure for making the pending cards operational.

More than 4,000 NCMC card distribution

centres are working in the state and can be procured easily. Sarnaik, however,

warned that any malpractice in the card issuance or use will not be tolerated.

The centres issuing cards by charging more than prescribed fees will face stern

action, including withdrawal of permission of the centres, he added.
