Jammu, 12 June (H.S.): The police have registered an FIR against four persons, including a local PDP leader Guftar Ahmed Choudhary, in connection with a protest held in Kotranka over the alleged death of Nusrat Jahan, which protesters claim resulted from negligence by doctors and paramedical staff at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.

The police said the accused include PDP leader Guftar Ahmed Choudhary and three others, one of whom is reported to be the maternal uncle of the deceased. The FIR No 74/2026 under relevant section of law was registered after protesters allegedly blocked the Rajouri-Kotranka road for nearly one and a half hours while demanding justice for Nusrat Jahan.

They claimed that the road blockade caused disruption to traffic and inconvenience to the general public. Amid prevailing heat wave conditions, commuters, patients, and travelers reportedly faced considerable hardship due to the prolonged closure of the road.

Officials stated that the demonstration severely affected traffic movement and public life, prompting the registration of a case under relevant legal provisions. Police have further indicated that efforts are underway to identify other individuals who participated in the road blockade.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and stated that further action will be taken based on the findings.

Meanwhile, general public has strongly criticized the police for taking action against those who were peacefully protesting and demanding justice for the young woman who allegedly died in GMC Rajouri due to Medical negligence a few days ago.
