Baksa (Assam), 10 June (HS): Assam Transport and Welfare of Bodoland Department Minister and Baksa District Guardian Minister Charan Boro on Wednesday reviewed the implementation of major government schemes and developmental initiatives in the district during a meeting held at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Mushalpur.

The review meeting was attended by legislators, BTC executive members, MCLAs, senior district officials and heads of various departments. The session began with an interaction between the minister and district officials, followed by a comprehensive assessment of ongoing welfare and infrastructure projects across Baksa.

Boro examined the progress of flagship schemes such as Orunodoi and the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA). He also reviewed the status of development programmes including Asom Darshan and the Vibrant Village Programme, stressing the need for effective implementation at the grassroots level.

A major focus of the meeting was flood preparedness in vulnerable areas of the district. The minister assessed the availability of relief materials, emergency response mechanisms, ex-gratia arrangements and measures to safeguard affected communities. He also reviewed the availability of highlands for livestock shelter and the preparedness of the Veterinary Department during flood emergencies.

The meeting further discussed measures to address human-elephant conflict, including the installation of solar electric fencing, bio-fencing projects and plantation drives. The condition of roads, public infrastructure, transport services and healthcare facilities in the district was also reviewed.

Addressing the officials, Boro said regular review meetings would be conducted to monitor the progress of government schemes and development projects. He added that he would soon undertake field visits across the district to assess the ground-level implementation of welfare programmes and infrastructure works.

District Commissioner Kimnei Changsan and departmental officials briefed the minister on ongoing projects, departmental challenges and steps being taken to address key issues affecting the district.------------
