In an X post, the Finance Minister stated that the objective of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana is to provide affordable financial security to the weaker and deprived sections of society. These three schemes were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 9, 2015.
Sitharaman said that these flagship schemes are working to broaden the insurance and pension sector while providing citizens protection against life's uncertainties and strengthening long-term financial stability. Over 27 crore, 58 crore, and 9 crore enrollments have been made under PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY respectively.
The Finance Minister informed that under PMJJBY, claims worth more than ₹21,500 crore have been paid to over 10.7 lakh families so far, while under PMSBY, claims worth approximately ₹3,660 crore have been settled for over 1.84 lakh families.
