Sivasagar, 06 May (HS): A cadre of the banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) was arrested by Dimou Police in Assam’s Sivasagar district following a tip-off. Explosives and live ammunition were recovered from his possession during the operation.

According to police, the operation was carried out in the Palengi Dhanya Pathar area on Wednesday, leading to the apprehension of the accused, identified as Biren Chetia alias Runtu Asom.

During the search, police seized seven grenades, 13 rounds of live ammunition, cash and other incriminating documents from the arrested cadre. A case has been registered in this connection and further interrogation is underway.---------
