
Guwahati, 31 May (HS): The Assam government is set to undertake a major expansion of the state Cabinet on June 5, with preparations for the swearing-in ceremony already underway. The oath-taking programme is expected to be held in Guwahati.
Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma through Social media indicate that the list of legislators to be inducted into the expanded Council of Ministers has already been finalised. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reportedly received the necessary approval for the Cabinet expansion after meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Saturday.
The reshuffle and expansion exercise is expected to strengthen the state government ahead of key administrative and political engagements. Discussions regarding the inclusion of new faces and redistribution of portfolios have been ongoing in recent weeks.
According to indications from CM, between seven and twelve legislators are likely to be sworn in as ministers during the expansion. An official announcement regarding the final composition of the Cabinet is expected in the coming days.----------
