Ghaziabad,
31 May (HS): Asad, the main accused in the murder of 11th-grade student Surya
Chauhan, who was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon on Bakrid in the Khoda
Colony area of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was killed in an encounter on Sunday
morning by police. Ghaziabad police had announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 on Asad.
A police constable was also injured in the encounter. He has been admitted to
the hospital for treatment.
Deputy
Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal stated that on May 28, Asad and his
associates stabbed Surya Chauhan (17) to death. Based on a complaint filed by
the deceased's family, police registered a case against five people at Khoda
police station under relevant sections, including murder. Police arrested three
of the accused on Saturday, while the main accused, Asad, remained at large.
Police had announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 for his arrest. This morning,
police received information that Asad was going to meet some friends in the
Khoda police station area and was planning to escape after borrowing money.
Based on this information, police set up roadblocks at various locations and
launched an intensive search throughout the area. Meanwhile, Asad and his
friend were seen arriving on a bike. When police attempted to stop them, they
opened fire on the police team instead of stopping. Police responded in self-defense,
hitting Asad. The accused was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment,
where he was proclaimed dead.
The
DCP said that a police constable was also injured during the shootout and was
taken to the hospital. Asad's bike has been recovered, and the pistol he used
to fire the shots has also been recovered. Police are conducting a thorough
investigation into the incident and taking further legal action.
Surya's
mother, Saroj, said, I want to see Asad's photo. Only after seeing the
photo will I feel at peace. The others should also be encountered in the same
manner. Seven people killed my son; bulldozers should run on their homes.
Surya Chauhan's neighbor, Ankit, said, It's a good thing that the
encounter has taken place, but now the further demands must also be met, and
those six people should also be encountered. We demand that bulldozers be run
on the homes of all six people, their houses be demolished, and all their
property be confiscated.
It
is noteworthy that on May 28, Surya Chauhan (17), a resident of Navneet Vihar
Colony in Khoda Colony, was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.
However, due to his deteriorating condition, he was transferred to a private
hospital in Noida, where he died during treatment on Friday. Surya Chauhan's
family alleged that on the afternoon of May 28, someone called him and asked
him to meet at a pre-arranged location. Family members claimed that when he
went there with his friends, an altercation broke out, leading to multiple stab
wounds in his stomach. Family members claimed that Surya ran for about 200
meters to save his life, but the attackers chased him and stabbed him again. A
video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting Hindu organizations
to speak out. On Saturday, Surya Chauhan's family staged a road blockade with
his body. After much persuasion by district administration and police
officials, they performed Surya's last rites on Saturday evening.
